Aha! Adventure - Whitewater Refresher, AB

Location: Lower Kananaskis River

Dates: May 11, 2025

Cost: $160 plus gst

​

Refresh your canoe skills with Steven and Ang to get ready for your whitewater canoe adventures this summer! You will practice eddy turns and forward ferries to help you feel in control of your canoe so that you can put it where you want in the river when it counts!

**time subject to change due to the flow times at barrier dam.

Prerequisites: You need to feel comfortable on class 1+ and be able to do eddy turns and ferries. If you are unsure of your skills, give me a call or email at ang@yfbc.ca

Cancellation Policy:  If you need to cancel or withdraw, you can have a refund minus a $20 admin fee 2 weeks before the start date.  No refund within 2 weeks of the start date.

Itinerary:

May 11, 9am-4pm:  Meet at Canoe Meadows in K-country.

We will spend the morning in the lower eddies and work on our skills with tighter moves with fun waves and stronger currents. At lunch we will set up a shuttle and then travel down river to Seebe Dam.

 

Cost Includes:

  • canoe gear (canoes, paddles, pfd's, helmets)

  • Safety equipment (throwbags, first aid kit, emergency communication)

  • Instructors

  • Transportation of canoes

 

You need to provide:

  • Lunch, snacks, water/ thermos of hot liquids

  • Wetsuit or drysuit – the water is cold in May and with learning you have a good chance of swimming during the course!

  • Shell jacket/ paddling jacket

  • Neoprene booties or neoprene socks with sport sandals/ running shoes

  • Neoprene gloves

  • Lots of layers and extra warm clothes

 

Transportation Details:

You will need to meet the instructors at the designated location. We will work together to set up the shuttle

Medical Form and Waiver:

In order to participate in this course, you are required to sign an Adult Waiver or Youth Informed Consent. You will also need to fill out the online medical form.
