Aha! Adventures- Couples Trip, Waterhen River, SK

Head out for your next adventure and explore with us while at the same time taking time to strengthen your relationship as you spend time in nature.  The Waterhen trip starts with learning the basics of canoeing on the lake and then we move to the river and build your skills working together.  Spend the day on the water and at night discover ways to build connection and draw closer to each other with counsellors Wendy and Dwight. Nature will slow us down, help us grow closer to ourselves and each other as we share, listen and experience.

 

This trip is offered with counsellors, Wendy and Dwight Eisler from Sparrow’s Life Counselling. Wendy and Dwight have sat with many couples over the years and understand that your story is unique, but also similar to other stories. Sometimes just being together reminds us that we all struggle with parts of our relationships, and we aren’t alone in what we feel and do. Being together and in nature can be the perfect combination for something new to happen!

All breakfasts and suppers will be provided and catered by your canoe guides, but you will look after your own lunches and snacks for the trip.

 

Prerequisites: No experience necessary.  Guides can teach you what you need to know on your trip.  You should have an average fitness level. 

 

Cancellation Policy:  A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to register. The balance is due 30 days before the trip start date. No refunds on or after this date. We recommend trip cancellation insurance.

Itinerary:

July 12: Meet in North Battleford or at the park gates in Meadow Lake Provincial Park by 10:30am.  We will drive together to the put-in on Lac Des Iles.  We will start off teaching or doing a refresher with canoe strokes and set up the shuttle.  We will have a short paddle and camp on the lake with our own beautiful beach!

July 13/14:  Full day on the water and we will move from the lake into the river.  Enjoy the easy, fun rapids as you learn to navigate and work together with your partner. In the evening enjoy fully catered dinners and work on your relationship with enriching exercises together.

July 15: Finish the trip – we will be off the water around noon.  After we finish the shuttle, we will travel home.

 

Cost Includes:

• Safety equipment (throwbags, first aid kit, emergency communication)

• Group camping gear (tarp/shelter etc.)

• Group cooking equipment (pots, stoves, utensils, fuel)

• Experienced and qualified guides and 2 therapists

• All canoe gear (canoes, paddles, pfd's)

• Camping and permits

• Gourmet breakfasts and suppers (you will bring your own lunches and snacks)

 

Transportation Details:

You can join the group in the van coming from North Battleford or meet at the river. We will need to work together to set up the shuttle. If you drive, you are responsible for the park entrance fee ($40) for your vehicle.

 

Medical Form and Waiver:

In order to participate in this trip, you are required to fill out all your registration and medical information.

 

EMERGENCY EVACUATION AND TRIP CANCELLATION: In rare cases, if you have an emergency and need to be evacuated from the trip, you will be responsible for any extra charges.  The quickest way to get off our remote trips is via floatplane or helicopter and if we contact these companies directly for the quickest service, you will be responsible for the expense.  To ensure that there are no surprises, we recommend that you get evacuation insurance.  An evacuation could be very costly in remote locations, so we recommend that you are covered through your credit card or another plan.  One option available is Tugo Insurance at:  https://www.tugo.com/en/travel-insurance/canadians/.  You may also want to consider purchasing trip cancellation insurance if for some reason (i.e. illness) you are unable to go on the trip.  If cancellation is required at the last minute, you will need to have trip cancellation insurance. This will protect yourself and Aha! Adventures and allow us to offer great trips into the future.
